Transplants in Natick

It is a truly sad event that Natick has been torn apart by four School Committee members who have no true connection to this town. The narrow vote to abolish the Redmen nickname was truly horrific. These people come into our town and took away 50 years of tradition, honor, family and unity in a matter of minutes. These people should pack their bags and get out of our town.

I plead with the people of this town to pull together and fight this! This is not democracy at work, but more like a communist party overthrowing a people's love and belief in their town. Should I go to Stop & Shop and ask them to remove all white bread because it is offensive? Should I be offended by people wearing white shirts?

One Native American who spoke at the meeting was offended just by the red colored shirts worn by the towns' people. What he really wanted was publicity for his art. The Committee members should be ashamed for backstabbing the very people that voted them into office.

I say we no longer allow transplants to this town to serve on our boards. They have proved that they do not have the best interests of the town in mind, but their own interests. The Redmen name was used to represent the red colored shirts worn by the Natick players. It was never a slur. If any person looks in the mirror we can see that we are all people of color. We just run on a spectrum from lighter to darker. These Native Americans aren't "redmen." Though I may be a caucasion women, I am a Redman.
