SPEAK OUT: Right Move on Redmen

I'm responding to the Feb. 20 speakout by R.J.M. in Natick. The Stoughton High School sports teams are actually known as the Black Knights.

Once again a nickname supporter has failed to do even the most rudimentary research on this issue. Chief Caring Hands was asked to speak in Natick because she represents the Praying Indians, the people the term "Redmen" is supposedly honoring. She made it quite clear that a racial slur is no honor at all.

This is not about political correctness. It is about human rights.

Just because the decision was unpopular with white people doesn't mean the school committee didn't make the right decision one year ago.
